Have you guys noticed the fallen leaves, crisp air and shorter days? Fall has been in full swing here in New England! Undoubtably, one of the best parts about this season is the fall fashion. When it gets chilly, my first instinct is to start layering up, so I wanted to share with you below, my 5 essentials for layering in the fall.
You’ll want to start off with a base layer, such as a turtleneck. My orange turtleneck is currently on sale at J.Crew and I would recommend sizing up, because I’ve had these shrink in the wash before. The material is pretty thin, which makes it perfect for layering. As weird as it sounds, my fiancé always says to start thin and end chunky! Warm, rustic colors like orange, red, and brown go well with the fall season.
I bought my quilted vest from Zara last year, so it’s no longer in stock, but you can find similar quilted vests anywhere! Vests are super comfortable and perfect for Fall because it’s not too toasty or constricting. Beige and other neutral colored vests are convenient and easy to throw over any colored top!
Next, you’ll want to top it all off with a scarf! I scored big time with my Burberry tartan scarf because I found it in a consignment shop for about $15! Burberry is known for having incredibly lush scarves in timeless tartan plaid patterns. If you can’t manage to find a great deal like I did, there are tons of other options for scarves too. Another favorite of mine is this blanket scarf from Amazon. You’ll probably recognize the pattern because it’s all over Pinterest!
Regular leggings may be fine if you’re at home or indoors, but fleece-lined leggings are a must if you plan on going outside because they’re much warmer than regular leggings! Mine were bought from J.Crew last year but there are fleece leggings selling from just about every other store online during the colder seasons.
Another staple of Fall are tall boots! They are strange to wear in the heat of summer, but you can certainly pull these puppies out during the fall and winter. Beneath my knee-high boots, I like to wear tall socks for added warmth.
