Our time at Tortuguero Beach was peaceful and secluded—truly a hidden gem. We took our time exploring this beach with the vast jungle views behind us and the open Caribbean sea in front of us.

Besides the gorgeous views and the sea turtles, there is not much to say about Tortuguero Beach that I hadn’t mentioned in this previous post, so for now, I will focus on the outfit that I wore. My outfit was simple and low maintenance. I wore a dress, hat, and some sandals. What more do you need for a quick stroll on the beach?

My dress was cobalt blue and made of lightweight crepe fabric (from Lulu’s). The best part was the embroidered back. Although, my hair covered most of it while walking around, whoops! Another thing I love about this dress is the adjustable straps. Basically, you can tug on the two strings in the back until the front covers you properly, then tie a knot by the nape of your neck. This could be a perfect fit for anyone!

My hat was great for traveling because it was flexible enough to roll up and stuff in a suitcase without getting damaged! (Also from Lulu’s).

My shoes were not the most fashionable, but if you wanted something that’s convenient, comfortable and practical for traveling, then I would recommend my open-toed Tevas sandals! We met another girl with the same shoes during our trip, so that’s how you know my advice is legit, hehe.

Buy the same Tevas shoes as mine in Bungee Cord here.
Dan’s matching Tevas shoes in Turkish Coffee here.

Lulus has the cutest dresses and accessories, too. I hope to buy more hats because they make the outfit look complete. Can’t wait to see what you find!

Ooooh I love your outfit, Kim! The photos are so pretty – the scenery is perfect. Also, did Dan dye his hair? It’s looking reddish in that last photo, or maybe the angle or lighting makes it look that way? But if he didn’t dye it, I’m sure he could totally pull it off if he did!

You two are such a cute couple by the way! ♥

Hey Eena! It must be the lighting because my hair looks reddish in the first picture too yet neither of us have dyed our hair! Thanks for noticing though! You are too sweet 🙂

      Glad you like the outfit!

  5. May 24, 2017 / 12:35 pm

I’m glad you got to experience this beautiful beach! Your dress gives off that perfect beach vibes. I love it when dresses have adjustable straps. I’m smaller than most people so I have to do a lot of adjustments on mine! Your hat is cute! I bought one recently for my next vacation :).

I like to wear clothes that I can easily get in and out of. The most important thing is that sand shouldn’t be trapped in my clothes!

    • May 26, 2017 / 10:35 am

Hey Nancy! Can’t wait to see you wearing your new hat on your blog. And those are great points! No one wants to drag sand in the house!

This is the perfect outfit for the beach! I am in love the color of that dress, and the embroidered detail is the perfect touch. I always find it so hard to find dresses where the straps will fit me and not be too low in the front, so the adjustable straps sound amazing! And I’m all for comfort and practicality when traveling. For some reason I’ve never shopped at Lulu’s before, so I’ll have to go have a browse!

    • May 26, 2017 / 10:37 am

Thanks for reading, Kara! I love comfort and practicality as much as the next person, so the adjustable straps are such a bonus! Next time, I plan to put my hair up to show more of the embroidered detail. And I’ve never actually been inside a Lulus store before but they have a great selection online!

You two have major photography skills, your photos are always so dreamy! I love your dress, perfect for the setting.

It’s an easy flight from America, so definitely go for it someday!

    • May 26, 2017 / 11:02 am

Thanks Mel! I recently upgraded to the Canon 80D and it has made a HUGE difference!

  8. May 25, 2017 / 12:55 am

It’s totally fine if your footwear isn’t very fashionable. I don’t wear fashionable footwear when travelling too. I just wear my trekking sandals since my husband and I usually trek or walk around when we travel. Your dress is still gorgeous though. 🙂

    • May 26, 2017 / 11:51 am

That is great to hear because I have always preferred comfort over fashion anyhow. If my clothes end up looking nice, I am lucky!

      It’s such a beautiful country! It’d 100% recommend it!

Ooooo I love a good straw hat! Being able to roll them up is key because I hate having to wear my hat on the airplane lol. You look adorbs as always 🙂

Right? I’ve been obsessed with straw hats lately! Thanks as always, Colleen!

Such a cute outfit, and I like your hat. I don’t have a head made for hats/bonnets/etc so that sucks. I’d like something that looked like yours!

    • June 5, 2017 / 11:21 am

Whaaaa? I’m sure hats would look great on you!

  16. June 5, 2017 / 1:29 pm

I’m so glad you visited the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica! Good to see you enjoyed yourselves 🙂 Costa Rica is THE best – but maybe I’m biased because I’m from there. 🙂 Seriously though, it’s paradise!

    Thanks for sharing!
