Kimono in the Jungles of Costa Rica

Now, I’m not really a fashionista, but let me humor you with my first attempt at a style post.

Typically, I wear hand-me-downs, discounted clothes from 10 seasons ago, or whatever makes me feel comfortable. But since, this is my favorite kimono and bathing suit combination, which I’ve worn to countless beach trips, parties and events, this is what makes me feel confident. So, I might as well share what I love! Also, I wore this outfit in COSTA RICA which automatically boosts its cool factor.

Practicality

I love using my kimono as a beach cover-up because it’s so lightweight! The dark floral pattern seemed fitting for the tropics, too! But, I know what you’re thinking. “This isn’t practical for the jungle!” Well, you’re totally right. But when is style ever practical? To be honest, these pictures were taken right outside our cabin at Mawamba Lodge in Tortuguero, Costa Rica. Immediately afterwards, we went straight for the pool 😉

However, if you are seeking a true jungle adventure, be sure to view my post: Jungle Boat Safari in Tortuguero National Park, Costa Rica. More on Costa Rica.

My Lack of a Style Guide

I would put up an official Style Guide of where you can find my outfit, but aside from the Sojos Sunglasses from Amazon (styled after Ray Ban) and the hat from Lulu’s (similar)my clothes are several years old. My bathing suit top is from Gilly Hicks, which has now consolidated into Hollister. My bathing suit bottoms are from Victoria’s Secret, which is no longer selling bathing suits. And the kimono is from Forever 21, which has held up pretty well.

Behind the Scenes

I was inches away from walking into a humongous spider web while taking these pictures. The spider was bigger than my hand. If you don’t believe me, look up the Golden Silk Orb-Weaver Spider. Or don’t, because you’ll probably get nightmares! Eep!

  • That kimono is so beautiful! I actually just bought one from F21 so I’m waiting for it to come in the mail. Love the photos!

          That’s right! Lucky you 😛

  • Love your swim top and the kimono! After seeing your reasons, it really does seem like the perfect coverup, plus the print is sooo pretty! Fits super well into the tropical backdrop of Costa Rica too 🙂
